Our family is passionate about making great-tasting coffee
In 1919, my great-grandfather “Cap” Saurage discovered the secret of making our special coffee. He named it "Community Coffee" out of appreciation for his community of friends and the customers he served. With the help of his family, Cap Saurage opened a country store to sell coffee and other groceries to his neighbors.
Four generations later our family is still selecting, roasting and perfecting great-tasting blends for coffee lovers everywhere. We source our beans at coffee farms around the globe and taste the finished product at our own kitchen table.
Since Cap blended the first batch of Community coffee, we’ve seen plenty of change — both inside and outside the company. We’ve evolved to better serve our customers, but we’ve also tried to stay true to our roots and the community that got us started. That’s why for over 100 years we’ve maintained an unwavering dedication to making the best-tasting, highest-quality coffee we possibly can — all while developing better methods of sourcing, superior roasting techniques and innovative ideas to keep our coffee at its peak of flavor and freshness.
We simply love making coffee, and we find inspiration in every part of the process, from planting the beans to serving the perfect cup. Above all, we're inspired by the people we work with, the customers we serve and the connections we’ve built together.
FOUR GENERATIONS
Since Community Coffee Company was started in 1919, it’s been family owned and family operated. We still work with many of the same family-run farms we’ve worked with for generations. Many of our employees have a deep family connection to the company and can tell you stories about the days their parents and grandparents came to work at Community Coffee. And generations of coffee drinkers have trusted us to serve them only the best.
GIVING BACK
Great coffee isn’t the only reason Community Coffee has been so successful for so long. We’ve also had the support of our friends and neighbors. These are the people who originally inspired our giving programs and continue to do so today.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING
We work hard to connect directly with farmers and their communities, and to build healthy relationships on common values and goals. Our commitment to farmers is built on a long-running foundation of shared values, shared goals and trust. In practical terms, this means we commit to regularly buying their beans and to investing in their growth. They commit to meeting our standards of quality year after year. We give back to their communities by investing in education and mentorship programs, building new infrastructure, and creating work programs for local farmers.
